As I lay here and ponder
I often think and wonder
How it would be, over there, in the Great Yonder.
Is it full of life or is it not?
Are the temperatures extremely cold or horridly hot?
How long will I lay and ponder
As I often think and wonder
How it would be, over there, in the Great Yonder.
Are there any fields of grass that grow?
Is there a moon that rises and glow?
Is there a sun to light the place and shine?
Are there vineyards of grapes to make wine?
Oh! How long will I lay and ponder
As I often think and wonder
How it would be, over there, in the Great Yonder.
Can I walk about the surface with grace?
Will the wind soothe as it touches my face?
Are there any snow covered mountain tops?
Are there miles of land to grow crops?
Oh! How long will I lay and ponder
As I often think and wonder
How it would be, over there, in the Great Yonder.

Could it be everything we hoped for and dreamed,
Even though everything we have dreamed is not as it seemed.
Life has been given, and our souls are redeemed,
From the One who came and His love He streamed!
Oh! How long will I lay and ponder
As I often think and wonder
How it would be, over there, in the Great Yonder.
